First it was mentioned in 1241 and as it was located on the cross of trade ways it had Magdeburske pravo. Kolomyya was the town though which chumaky (people who were selling salt) were going to other big cities, and that helped the town to grow economically. Kolomyya was the place where the fight for the freedom and independence of Ukraine has started. There are so many architect styles that you can find in Kolomyya as it was a part of Austro-Hungary and Poland.
The location of Kolomyya on the marvelous Carpathian mountains and near the river Prut will bring you unforgettable rest and here you can feel the Ukrainian spirit.
